Destiny is the narrator and star of Mars Encounters. She explains her role in exploring the Martian surface:

  • Collecting and analyzing samples to search for water and past life.

  • Testing technologies that might one day turn Martian rock into fuel.

  • Reporting back to Earth so scientists can prepare human missions.

Destiny’s story makes the science approachable, funny, and inspiring, allowing children to connect with the challenges of Mars exploration through the eyes of a brave robotic explorer.

Students don’t just learn about Mars—they live the mission through interactive exhibits:

  • Martian Ore Mining – Operate robotic diggers to extract ore, test for water, and learn how to create rocket fuel and oxygen.

  • Habitat Builders – Construct inflatable and modular habitats, experimenting with futuristic materials designed to withstand Mars’s harsh environment.

  • Life Support Challenge – Balance oxygen, food, and water systems using Martian resources.

  • Growing Food on Mars – Explore hydroponic and soil-based farming concepts adapted for low pressure and limited sunlight.

  • Mars Environment Zone – Compare Earth’s atmosphere, temperature, and gravity with Mars’s thin air, freezing climate, and one-third gravity.

  • Construction of the Future – Discover 3D printing techniques, regolith-based bricks, and self-healing materials for extraterrestrial building.

Each activity blends scientific principles with play, ensuring participants walk away entertained and inspired.

Mars Encounters

Journey to the Red Planet

Mars Encounters is an interactive educational experience that brings the excitement of space exploration to life for children, families, and students. Inspired by real-world science and the future of human spaceflight, the exhibit invites audiences to step onto the surface of Mars and discover what it will take for humans to one day travel there, survive, and thrive.

At the heart of the experience is Destiny, our friendly Mars rover. With a “destiny to explore,” Destiny guides students through challenges that mirror real scientific missions—teaching how today’s research helps pave the way for tomorrow’s astronauts.

Why Explore Mars?

Exploring space is not just about curiosity—it’s about survival, discovery, and innovation. Mars is the next frontier where humanity may find answers to profound questions:

✔️Did life ever exist beyond Earth?

✔️How can we create new resources from alien environments?

✔️What technologies do we need to live on another planet?

By learning about Mars, students also understand how innovation in energy, robotics, agriculture, and sustainability will transform life on Earth.
